For me, making art is an ongoing process of searching and discovering the world around me and my place in it. It also helps me to listen to myself, explore something new and promote the growth.
I have been painting for more than half of my life – I started to take art classes when I was 10 years old. My first major was Interior Designer where during the study we had classes in photography, painting, drawing, sculpture etc. That period of time gave me the opportunity to explore different materials and come up with the most comfortable for me.
Despite I was more focused on design at that time, I have not stopped being in the arts and looked for new ways to express my inner world. For example, there was a time when I was into watercolors and tried its different techniques; or accomplished three steps of Chinese painting (called U-sin) – this experience enriched my world in terms of perception of the outward things. There was also a time which I spent on gouache, or when I actively used collage in my artworks. One of my latest interest is dedicated to oil pastel which have been lasting for several years. Each of these periods reflected my inner state and vision of the world at that moment and brought something very valuable into my life.
Now, working as an art therapist let me look at the art making not just a hobby and self-expression activity, but as a healing process, helping to overcome disturbing feelings and increase my well-being.
