I constantly work with the relation between what "is" and what "is not"- how negative and positive spaces interact and how they’re dependent on one another to exist.
Elena von Kraskowski (born 1966) is a Swedish artist who works with abstract paintings and in limited edition abstract digital works. After having pursued a profession as a commersial and fine art photographer for over two decades, Elena works as a visual artist in full-time since 2017. Today, Elena mainly focuses on abstract painting and abstract digital work, where she works further with her paintings digitally, taking inspiration from analogue photography processes. The basis of her work is experimental exploration - combining thought, intuition, colors, shapes, material and surfaces, to explore how those factors correspond to one another. Elena was born and grew up in Stockholm, Sweden, where she resides and works. She has previously held two photo exhibitions of her own, and has also contributed to other exhibitions. In March 2019, Elena will put new abstract works on display at a solo exhibition at Edsvik Konsthall in Stockholm.“Because of my background as a photographer, I think that I have taken a specific interest in aesthetic expressions. I work with what I deem is both aesthetic and emotional as well as intellectually interesting - to explore and look for answers. I constantly return to the relation between what "is" and what "is not" - how negative and positive shapes and spaces interact, and how they’re dependent on one another to exist.”
