My Biography

Elena Blasio, (aka BE) was born in Rome, Italy, on September 30, 1987. Since she was a child, she liked to draw
and give shape to her fantasies with her pencil. While at school, her instinct slowly led her to pursue her passion
for art and, at the age of 19, she started to tackle social and political issues with her drawings. Her imaginative
and provocative nature led her to enroll at the Faculty of Architecture in the historic headquarters of Valle Giulia
in Rome. Her artistic side and natural inclination to protect the beauty of arts drove her to the master degree in
Architecture and Restoration. In 2014, she started working as an architect while she continued to pursue her
artistic projects, never laying down her pencil. The years between 2012 and 2019 have been the most productive
and she started to use post-it notes as a form of visual communication. During those years she took the
pseudonym BE. BE is a pun between the artist’s initials and the verb to be. BE stands for be yourself, let the
emotions guide you. Draw what you think, what you feel. It’s a short name, like BE’s way to communicate:
short, direct, essential.
